The name Speed 400 is a Graupner trademark. These motors
are manufactured by Mabuchi. The motor is actual a RS380 type motor.
There are different varieties of this motor created by different windings,
brushes etc.
The 2 varieties I use are the 6 volt and 7.2 volt RS380 motors. There
are several companies labelling these motors under the following names.
These motors can also be purchased through electronics and surplus houses.

Graupner 6 volt speed 400:
This motor seems to be the best choice for overall use all speed 400
applications. Since it contains internal coise suppression capacitors,
no other capacitors need to be added
Sp400 motor break-in
This procedure will seat the brushes.

Cons:
Time consuming.
Tends to make a mess
Items needed:
Distilled water
2 Heavy duty clip leads
7 to 8 cell pack
Procedure:
Fill a 16 oz cup full of distilled water
Attach a 7 or 8 cell battery directly to the motor terminals using
clip leads
Fully immerse the motor into the water for several seconds
Remove from water and examine brushes
Repeat steps to until brushes are fully seated
